② The Parliament of India passed this bill on December 22, 2015
③ The Bill permits juveniles aged 16-18 years to be tried as adults for heinous offences.
④ Juveniles aged 16-18 who have committed lesser serious crime may be tried as adult only if he is apprehended after the age of 21 years.
⑤ Juvenile Justice Boards (JJB) and Child Welfare Committee CWC) will be constituted in each district.
⑥ The Bill also addresses children in conflict with law and they need care and protection.
⑦ JJB will conduct preliminary inquiry to determine if juvenile offender be tried as adult or is to be sent as rehabilitation.
⑧ CWC will determine institutional care for the children who need it.
⑨ The Bill prescribes penalties for cruelty against a child.
⑩ Penalties are also prescribed for narcotic substances offered to children or abduction or selling of children.
