General Awareness: IMPORTANT BOUNDARY LINES  (#compete4Exams)

The line which demarcates the two countries is termed as Boundary Line.  Here is a partial list of international boundary lines.


DURAND LINE: 
Between India and Afghanistan, de­marcated by Sir Mortimer Durand in 1896, runs from Chitral to Sistan.


McMOHAN LINE: 
The boundary between India and China as demarcatedby Sir Henry Mc Mohan in 1914. China does not recognize this line.


RADCLIFF LINE: 
Drawn by Sir Cyril Red cliff in 1947 as demarcated between India and Pakistan.




HINDENBERG LINE: 
The line to which the Germans retreated in 1917 during the first world war, defines the boundary between Germany and Poland. MAGINOT LINE: Boundary between France and Germany.


MANNERHEIN LINE: 
Drawn by General Mannerheim, fortification on the Russia-Finland border.


OREDR NIESSE LINE: 
The boundary between Germany (East) and Poland.


SEIGFRID LINE: 
Line of fortification drawn by Germany on its border with France.


17TH PARALLEL: 
The line which defined the boundary between North Vietnam and South Vietnam before they were united.


24TH PARALLEL: 
The line which Pakistan claims should be the demarcation between India and Pak­istan.


38TH PARALLEL: 
Boundary between North Korea and South Korea.


45TH PARALLEL NORTH: 
It is considered as the halfway point between the Equator and the North Pole. The 45th parallel makes up most of the boundary between Montana and Wyoming.


49TH PARALLEL: 
Boundary between USA and Canada. The treaty established the 49th parallel from the Rocky Mountains to the Strait of Georgia as the boundary between the United States and British Canada, in 1818
