Objectives of the Scheme are:
  • To provide income support to all Small and Marginal landholding farmer families having cultivable land.
  • To supplement the financial needs of farmers by procurement and  to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields.

It is a Central Sector Scheme i.e. launched by the Government of India. It ensures income support of Rs.6000/- per year to all land holding farmers fn three equal installments of Rs.2000/- every  four months.

Identification of beneficiary farmer families lies with the State / UT Governments. Fund will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.


Farmers can self-register through the Farmers Corner in the portal or through Common Service Centers. PM-KISAN Mobile App was launched on 1st Anniversary of PM KISAN scheme.  Farmers can view the status of their application, update or carry out corrections of their Aadhaar cards and also check history of credits to their bank accounts by this mobile application.


All PM-KISAN beneficiaries will be given the Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) so that farmers can take easy loans from the banks. This will help all such farmers to get short term loan for crop & animal/fish rearing at a maximum interest of 4% on timely repayment.

Farmers/beneficiaries of higher economic status such as institutional land holders, former and present holder of constitutional posts, persons
who paid income tax in last assessment year etc. will not be eligible for benefit under the scheme.

The GOI web portal provides all the necessary details about the scheme.

The scheme will cost ₹75,000 crore (US$11 billion) per annum will be born by the central government.

The scheme was first conceived and implemented by Govt of Telangana as the Rythu Bandhu scheme.
